In Brief: Water projects across Western U.S. see setbacks in 2020

According to KUNC, proposals to divert water in New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah have run up against significant legal, financial, and political roadblocks this year. The New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission voted to stop spending funds on environmental reviews related to the Gila River Diversion. The Southern Nevada Water Authority was denied water rights associated with pumping groundwater from northern Nevada south to the metro area in the Mojave Desert, and several neighboring states are suing to stop Utah’s Lake Powell Pipeline.
