The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah State Engineer Teresa Wilhelmsen has rejected a controversial proposal to divert 55,000 acre-feet of the Green River’s flow from Utah to Colorado’s Front Range cities. Aaron Million’s firm, White Horse Resources, proposed a scaled-down pipeline tapping the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam at Browns Park and running 325 miles underground to Denver. The project would generate hydropower along its 3,800-foot decent from the Continental Divide to the Front Range. Wilhelmsen found that White Horse Resources’ proposal ran counter to policies Utah has been pursuing regarding the recovery of endangered species of fish and Utah’s own interest in developing its share of water in the Colorado River system.
