The Colorado Sun reports that Colorado lawmakers are prepared to spend tens of millions of dollars on aerial resources in preparation for future wildfires. Anticipated impacts of climate change like longer fire seasons have resulted in longer contracts for aircrafts. Additionally, lawmakers have approved Senate Bill 113, which allocates $30.8 million for the purchase and operation of a “Firehawk” helicopter. The Firehawk can operate at high altitudes and carry 1,000 gallons of water via an external water tank, rather than a carrying bucket.
