Briefly: Chimney Hollow Dam project near Loveland moves forward after $15 million settlement

The Colorado Sun reports that construction of the 25-story Chimney Hollow Dam will begin this summer. Construction can move forward after Northern Water reached a $15 million settlement with environmental opponents that initially filed a suit against Northern Water’s Windy Gap Firming Project. The $15 million will be used for waterway projects in Grand County.

Chimney Hollow will plug the northern end of a dry valley northwest of Carter Lake and will supply water to Central Weld County Water District, Little Thompson Water District, Platte River Power Authority, Broomfield, Erie, Fort Lupton, Greeley, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, Loveland, and Superior.
