KUNC reports that a new bill called the Tribal Access to Clean Water Act aims to allocate $2.3 billion across various federal agencies to develop and maintain tribal water infrastructure. The measure is designed to fill funding gaps left by the bipartisan infrastructure law.
Also last week, a group of six tribes in the Upper Colorado River Basin, along with 10 conservation groups, released a statement sharing their collective priorities on the river. The groups share this vision as water users begin negotiating a new water management framework for the river, as the existing operating guidelines are set to expire in 2026.
