The Los Angeles Times reports that California has added significantly to its underground aquifers last year, thanks to rain and new projects designed to restore them after years of overpumping. Of the 2.2 million acre-feet of water stashed away, the state estimates that 1.9 million acre-feet of newly stored water came from programs designed to capture stormwater.
