Briefly: Colorado sports betting revenues top expectations

According to The Denver Post, sports betting has collected nearly five times more money to date for water projects in Colorado than was initially anticipated when the state legalized sports betting in May 2020. The state’s Division of Gaming stated that the start of the National Football League’s season resulted in $44 million in bets during Sept. 9-13. The more money collected from gambling proceeds, the more money that can be used to fund new projects under the Colorado Water Plan.
