High Country News reports that Western lawmakers have been banning water fluoridation, ignoring public feedback. These moves against fluoridation multiplied around the time that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, announced plans to tell the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stop recommending fluoridation. Western communities in Washington, Oregon, and the entire state of Utah, have banned fluoride, despite surveys and polls showing that residents want it.
