According to Colorado Public Radio, if the current megadrought continues, Colorado might not be able to deliver enough water to Arizona, California, Nevada and Mexico within five years, much sooner than traditional forecasts have indicated. The projection comes from climate scientist Brad Udall.
Udall believes that if current ultra-dry conditions continue, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico could fail to deliver the required 8.2 million acre-feet to the Lower Basin states and Mexico, as required under the 1922 Colorado River Compact.
