Western Water reports that Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) is working on conservation methods that could reduce daily water usage to 98 gallons per person by 2035 within the Las Vegas metro area. SNWA took steps to ensure they could continue to pull water from Lake Mead in 2015 when they invested nearly $1 billion on the construction of a third intake in the reservoir. Recently, the Nevada legislature passed a bill, signed in June, that prohibits water from the Colorado River from being utilized to irrigate ornamental grass.
