New Mexico responds to the water crisis in Las Vegas, NM following flooding over burn scars

KRQE News reports that water treatment challenges continue for Las Vegas, New Mexico, following severe storms and extensive flooding that are bringing soot and debris from a two-year-old wildfire burn scar into the city’s water supply. The state is now delivering bottled water to city residents, but a longer-term fix is still needed. Local water treatment facilities can’t effectively treat the contaminated water and are seeking a pre-treatment solution.
