Opinion: Article on sports betting shows partisan bias

I am very disappointed that a recent article in Fresh Water News on rising sports betting revenues included false information and political commentary. By ending your article with a quote from Julie McCluskie, you are being very clearly partisan. She, of course, blames “Republicans” for the budget shortfall, which is not true. In addition, water should not be made a partisan issue.
You could have more than adequately covered the point (water funding) without that quote. It is not lost on me that you strategically placed it at the end of the article.
Further, your article would have been more complete if you looked into strategies to preserve the funding from sports betting and how to keep the governor’s hand off of it, rather than trying to inaccurately lay blame. You know, offering solutions rather than just criticism.

Please balance your article and look further into the root causes of the shortfall.  Be a better journalist and dig a little deeper into how Colorado got into this situation. If your job is to make stakeholders aware and influence good water decisions, your article was not the way to do it.

I get very frustrated with both our federal and state representatives (and governor) that they work so hard and waste so much time trying to blame each other. There is too much at stake for them to be trying to ram each other’s agenda down the other’s throats. I miss the days in Colorado where the politicians got along and worked together for good solutions.
